Subsector Strellia Lore (Part 1)

I alluded to me having run a campaign for a couple of former coworkers in a previous post.  I created a planet to serve as the location of the campaign and created a bit of a backstory for the characters.  I'm going to begin listing some of the fluff over a few posts.  I'll include what I came up with.  I will apologize for perhaps the lack of quality in the writing.  I'm not the best author and I do use some 40K cliches and sayings throughout my work.  In any case, here we go!

The Conquest of Entara

A Warhammer 40,000 Campaign

Belligerents:

The Imperium of Man (Squat League Vesper, 803rd Cadian Regiment, Clan Atraxii of the Iron

Craftworld Nofosos Eldar

Arturian Scythes, Renegade Chaos Space Marine Warband

Location:

Subsector Strellia, System Entu, Planet Entara

History

Subsector Strellia had long been lost to the Imperium of Man. It was first colonized in the 27th Millennium during the Dark Age of Technology. Humans flocked to the sector after scans showed it was rich in resources necessary for the construction of ships and other items used in colonization of  planets.  The largest mineral deposits were found on a planet named Entara in the system Entu.  It was not long after the initial foundries and mining operations had been set up that an  anomaly not only seemed to cut off all forms of communication to the sector, but travel as well.

Millennia passed before humans would once again attempt to venture to this world. Shortly after the  events of the Horus Heresy in the 32nd millennium, Astropaths of Cadia began receiving distress  signals through the Warp that had been launched as the anomaly first engulfed the planet. These  distress calls were most likely just an echo lost in time; however, the Horus Heresy had taken a great toll on the Imperium of Man and the High Lords of Terra could ill afford the loss of such a resource rich subsector. The High Lords sent an expeditionary force to reclaim what had been lost. The Administrators of Terra knew that the abhumans referred to as “Squats” would be ideal in the  establishment of a mining operation (due to their expertise in mining and resistance to heavy gravity). It took very little coercing before ten thousand Squats of the League Esper agreed to relocate to  Entara. Additionally, a small detachment of 30 Iron Hands Space Marines adept in the rituals of the Machine Spirit opted to join the expedition to power up the machinery in the manufactorums and set up planetary defenses. With any luck, mining operations would be operational within the first week  of arriving. If the Squats could salvage the original foundries as well, the Iron Hand Tech Marines could begin production of Titans within a month.

The High Lords of Terra did not care to ascertain what events lead to the demise the original colonists. They were very clear when they instructed the new colonists to not concern themselves with finding out either. Within weeks, the Squats had the mining facilities operating at near optimal efficiency. The Iron Hands were even able to salvage an old factorum meant for the construction of the more mobile Knight Titans.

The good news and successes of the expedition would be short lived. Just as quickly as access to Subsector Strellia was gained, it was lost again to another massive warp storm. Without any warning all was lost again…
